it hasn't been easy. it's been quite rocky actually. but i don't regret the decision for one second. i am a true believer in making yourself the person you want to be every day. you are what you repeatedly do. you are not your job. you are not your car. you are not your house. you are not your bank account. it is what you do from dusk til dawn that defines you.
it's a new year. time to recreate yourself. time to make yourself exactly what you have always wanted to be. it won't be easy. you will likely have to move outside of your comfort zone to achieve this new you. you have to be willing to do what most people aren't. for me, at least in my mind, that helps set me apart from the masses. i strive during periods of great discomfort.
twain sums up my point well...
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.- Mark Twain
happy new year!

Well said, Hart. I give you mad props for doing what you've done. It takes alot of courage to step out of the comfortable... out of the expected and into the unknown. May 2009 be even more enjoying and fulfilling for you.
Thank you for inspiring me. Somehow things like this just seem to come along at the right times...
Great post. Thank you!
thanks gang! here is to a healthy and happy 2009!
That's always been one of my favorite quotes! Keep on, keepin' on!!
I have that quote on a magnet on my fridge and try to look at it daily. Nicely said my friend!

#%@# yeah!
Great post, buddy.
You were missed at the BadAss yesterday. Fix your foot so we can RUN!
Amen brother! I couldn't agree more. the constructs of Western culture are making it increasingly harder to step outside of one's comfort zone. So many are wasting their potential and missing out on some very tangible fulfillment. Not you though! Keep up the good work! Good post.
Amen...although not as easy (of course, easy being methaphorically speaking) for those with kids. What do I tell my son, mommy can't buy milk and take you to the movies? We already don't have cable, movies are once a month, no Blockbuster rental, and no fast food eating out ever. And he gets clothes twice a year - a pair of pants and 2 shirts. But...sounds absolutely awesome as a dream:) You go, because you can!
Thanks for the post, Matt. A powerful and well-needed message, one that seems to have made itself apparent a number of times today. All best for a great 2009! -Mike V.
Poignant and really freaking real this entry is, Matt. Your emotion is just dripping off it. Probably my favorite post of yours, ever. I hope you don't mind if I print it and put it on my fridge? :)
Be well and keep living your dream this year,
Meghan
I wish I had your courage to get off the train.
